Why Bad Kleinkirchheim is great for families
- Everything close by: practice area, ski school, ski hire and thermal spa are all next to each other in the village centre.
- Sunny location: the Nock Mountains are among the sunniest ski regions in Austria.
- Plenty of easy and intermediate runs for the first days after the course.
- Skiing and spa: after your ski course, head to the Römerbad or Therme St. Kathrein – ideal when the weather is bad.

Thermal spas
Bad Kleinkirchheim is one of the few ski resorts with two thermal spas in the village: Thermal Römerbad right at the Kaiserburgbahn (next to our ski school office) and Thermal St. Kathrein. The thermal water made the village well known long before skiing did.
Nock Mountains Biosphere Park
The gentle, rounded summits of the Nock Mountains around Bad Kleinkirchheim are part of the UNESCO Biosphere Park Salzburger Lungau and Kärntner Nockberge. In winter the area is ideal for snowshoe hiking and ski touring, in summer for hiking and mountain biking.
Churches and local history
- Pilgrimage church of St. Kathrein – a Gothic church built over a spring said to have healing powers; the origin of the village's bathing culture.
- Parish church of St. Ulrich in the village centre.
A short walk to the churches is a nice way to spend an afternoon after your lesson.
Ski legend Franz Klammer
Olympic champion Franz Klammer comes from the area (Mooswald, Fresach). The World Cup downhill named after him is one of the best-known runs in Carinthia.
Winter without skis
Winter walks, sledging, cross-country trails, snowshoe hiking and the thermal spas – family members who don't ski will find plenty to do too.
In summer
Austria's longest flow trail (15 km) starts right in the village, around 100 metres from our apartment. Add to that the Nockalmstraße scenic road, hiking in the Biosphere Park and Lake Millstatt (Millstätter See) about 20 minutes away.
For advanced skiers
The Franz-Klammer-Abfahrt and the black runs on the Kaiserburg. If you'd like to polish your technique: Private lessons.
